HYPHA

City Point Hypha Artists: Nicki Miller, Benjamin E. Oyzon

Remote Hypha Artists: Leighann Kowalsky, Mandy Hackman, and Miles Wilder

Hypha uses aerial, dance, music/sound, film, and theatre in an ongoing ritual of inquiry, cultivating a cross-disciplinary and inter-genre process allowing new artistic forms, determined by core values and principles of interdependence, to emerge. Live and digital performance events will invite others to join our ritual of inquiry.

At City Point, Miller and Oyzon are continuing work on a counterweight aerial theatre duet which (after a workshop showing in November 2019) was set to premiere at Eric Schmalenberger's Blunderland (House of Yes, NYC edition) in March 2020 before being cancelled due to COVID-19. The duet explores the interpersonal consequences of culturally programmed hetero-capitalism. In March of 2021 it will be expanded to an interdisciplinary episodic film project at a residency in Millbrook, NY with core collaborators Leighann Kowalsky, Mandy Hackman, and Miles Wilder who have begun working remotely. The film process is a ritual of inquiry, probing the boundaries of cultural programming in relationship to our inner and outer communities. Miller and Oyzon's duet at City Point runs 7 minutes and features music by Solomon Burke in a sound edit by Ben Lieberman.
